Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
- Marianne Williamson 'Course of Miracles' and
quoted by Nelson Mandela in his
Inaugural Speech
Vicki was a former head of department in a large secondary school. Following a major burnout, which resulted in chronic fatigue symptoms, she started her own personal growth journey. A major part of this was learning what caused her body to close down and then to make the changes in her life to ensure it doesn't happen again. By accepting life is full of challenges and using yoga to support her she is living a full and happy life. Another part of the journey included overcoming her lifetime struggle with food and dieting. She has given up restrictive dieting and has healed her relationship with food and her body.
For six years, she has been coaching others to love and accept themselves.
Vicki is a qualified Life Coach (graduating from www.Coachinc.com USA in 2000),

It's easy to learn the restorative postures and breathing, which is great as I was so tired. And the coaching support enabled me to keep motivated with practising the techniques and overcoming my emotional blocks.

Thank you for being so incredibly patient - even with a neurotically self-conscious client like me! The most important learning for me was that Yoga Therapy is not about forcing myself to do something I can't do, but about relaxing into what I can do.

I always felt totally supported by you and able to speak about anything without judgement. And the guidance at the beginning to really listen to my emotions and be guided by what they were telling me was really fundamental in helping me start to live my life the way that I wanted. I have many hobbies now that I really enjoy, especially singing. I've left behind things that I thought I 'should' do. And although it's been a good year since I've had coaching, the guidance and advice is still having an impact, and helping me to make appropriate choices for my work and leisure time. Life feels exciting.

Gave my life a meaning and purpose (I felt I had another chance).

You are always very reassuring when I 'think' things have gone wrong and convince me that things are 'alright' and part of a process, that I have the power to change myself... that this is not who I am and through the power of 'stalking' my thoughts and 'limited patterns' that I can free myself from this suffering. You continue to help me truly feel my emotions, find out what's behind them and make positive changes to my everyday life by not being afraid.
